DESIGN OPPORTUNITY / PROJECT BRIEF- an exerpt from the Bonhaus Case Study
"After designing 2 separate typefaces in a
typographic resurrection class, we (Knoxie and
Sophia) paired them together, using their
unique qualities and characteristics for a brand
solution. Using the rhythm and German heritage
of blackletter, paired with a versatile sans-serif,
we fostered the concept of a German bakery
and coffee shop. After establishing a location
and target audience, we then collaborated with
our interior design friend Caroline to design and
curate a space using pre-existing architecture.
Together, the three of us built a brand, a story
and a space reflective of the Bonhaus
experience."
-Knoxie Le Roux, Graphic Designer

The Exterior maintains the beauty of time within the brick walls, juxtaposed with a modern finish
DESIGN INTENT
A modern adaptation of Old-World German design, Bonhaus exercises the high contrast of stark blacks and whites, with the soft and sophisticated browns of wood and leather. Inspired by the collaboration of the
streamline Nichi and calligraphic Chamberlin typefaces, the space was designed to foster community and inspire creativity. In maintaining the historical integrity of the space, layers of the past fuse with the richness of the present, thoughtfully inspiring the future.

UNIQUE FEATURES An artistic adaptation of the curves and edges in the Chamberlin typeface were used in order to create a tile design and artwork seen throughout the space
